Plastic Bags in Nikoras Chain Replaced with Biodegradable Bags

"Nikora" responds to the initiative of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia and replaces plastic bags within its chain with biodegradable bags. Concerning the mentioned issue, the deputy Minister, Teimuraz Murghulia visited one of the supermarkets of "Nikora".

As the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia stated, "Nikora" is the first among the Georgian supermarkets to have fully replaced the plastic bags with biodegradable bags. We would remind you that the plastic pollution is an urgent issue globally, including in Georgia. Non-compostable plastic bags can take centuries to decompose, while biodegradable bags start decomposing in 3-6 months.
