The Concert of the Folk Group of Turkish People of Georgian Descent

27 Jun. 2011

On June 25, the concert of the folk group of Turkish people of Georgian descent, "Kapdaghi" (Caucasian mountain) was held at the musical-cultural center of Jansugh Kakhidze with the financial support of "Nikora".

"Kapdaghi" (Caucasian mountain) is the only Georgian group in Istanbul and is manned by the descendants of the Georgian Muhajirs. Akhmed Melashvili was the person who had played the main role in establishing the group. He was one of the most distinguished figures among the Turkish people of Georgian descent. He made a valuable contribution to preserving and developing the Georgian culture in Turkey. That is why the Turkish people of Georgian descent named him "XX century’s Ilia Chavchavadze of the Turkish people of Georgian descent".
